2018-05-04 We were asked by Majątek Rogalin to help in moving the flock to summer fields.
It is always a nice challagnce to work on a big flock.
The day before the planned operation we tried to accustom sheep do working dogs. Good thing about was that all our dogs got a chance to work on larger flocks of 100-200 ewes.
Back to the core event. The task was to move around 650 ewes to pastures near Warta river.
There were 4 main obstacles on our way: - push sheep outside through a narrow gate - make the sheep enter the forest road - cross the public road - make them pass a bridge
Early morning I gathered all flocks into one area with Gem.
Then the true job started. Bob and Mo were the chosen ones for the job.
The sheep were quickly pushed out through the gate. First obstacle passed.
Problems occurred when we tried to enter the forest. The border between sunny grass and forest shadow seemed a magical fence.
Instead of entering the road we achieved a perfect whirlpool effect. Step by step sheep got calmer and started responding to the dogs and finally we managed to enter the forest.
The rest of journey was quite easy. Sheep passed the forest and crossed the road. It was a bit messy at the bridge as it was narrow for such a big flock.
Anyway the sheep were driven to the pastures.
